The current situation has made all traditional interaction among colleagues more difficult since spring. As the situation has dragged on, many companies have adopted new ways not only to hold meetings, but also to spend those all-important moments together that are crucial for workplace morale. The need for more informal, enjoyable activities together is actually growing, as some suffer and even feel anxious about their shrinking social circle while working remotely. So there’s no reason for the HR team to get discouraged by the situation and postpone the Christmas party to some distant future\u2014instead, get creative and organize it as a remote Christmas party. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Here at Norex, we too get to enjoy our Christmas party in a completely new way this year. It’s safe for those at risk in this situation and works just as conveniently even when the organization is physically spread across different parts of the country. <\/p>\n\n

This year, everyone at Norex can celebrate the Christmas party from their own home, and even together with their family, enjoying good food. A quick survey was conducted in advance to find out the number of people in each family and any allergies or special diets. Then restaurants in the capital region and other locations prepared delicious pre-made festive meals for us, which are delivered to everyone’s home at a specified time. <\/p>\n\n

Would you organize your company’s Christmas party this way too, and at the same time support the domestic restaurant industry that’s been hit hard by these tough times? <\/p>\n\n

Unfortunately, under current legislation, restaurants cannot deliver wines along with the food, so the employer can purchase them from Alko and deliver them to each home. Alternatively, drinks can be ordered well in advance by the employer as a gift from Alko’s online store<\/a><\/strong> for delivery to each employee’s nearest Alko store, from where the gift recipient can pick up their drinks with the order confirmation. <\/p>\n\n

There’s no need to compromise on boosting team spirit either\u2014you can agree on a specific time to raise a toast together via Teams or another channel you’re using, and even share photos of your own Christmas party table settings.<\/p>\n\n

The good news is also that earlier this fall, the Tax Administration issued guidelines on how a company can organize remote Christmas parties and other company recreational events tax-free. The employer can arrange for food and drinks to be delivered, or agree that employees can pick them up themselves from somewhere.
