Château du Moulin Noir is a traditional estate on Bordeaux’s right bank, crafting high-quality, elegant, and classic wines made predominantly from Merlot. The estate is regarded as one of the finest in its appellation. Located in Montagne-Saint-Émilion, its 6.8-hectare vineyards grow in clay-limestone soil, with a planting density of 6,000 vines per hectare that encourages concentrated yields and superior quality. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 28°C, and 20–25% of the French oak barrels are renewed each year. The estate takes its name from a medieval family feud: two brothers quarreled over their father’s inheritance, and the younger brother, bitterly resentful that the entire estate had gone to his elder sibling, was so consumed by jealousy that he burned the mill to the ground—hence the name Moulin Noir, meaning “black mill.”
