Responsible and sustainable business is a prerequisite for success and one of our core values
CEO Tomas Lönnberg, Norex Selected Brands Oy
We will invest even more strongly in promoting environmental and human well-being and in developing the responsibility of our product range. It is important to engage our key stakeholders in this change and help them achieve their own sustainability goals as well.
We understand that our business has environmental drawbacks. These include the direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions produced by our operations as well as impacts on biodiversity. Our goal is to minimize these negative impacts through, for example, conservation of materials, energy and water, environmentally responsible procurement, continuous optimization of logistics, reuse, recycling and sorting of goods and materials, and low-emission modes of transport.
The majority of our value chain’s environmental impacts arise from the production of the products and product packaging we sell, as well as from the logistics by which products are brought to Finland. We can promote the procurement of more sustainably produced products through our product and producer choices. It is important to increase the share of organically produced products (organic, biodynamic) in our range and to significantly increase the proportion of more environmentally friendly product packaging (e.g., lightweight glass bottles, PET plastic bottles and cardboard packaging) relative to heavy glass bottles.
In our company’s industry and value chain, the greatest social sustainability challenges are on the primary production side and often relate to working conditions, human rights and community impacts. We can influence these and promote human well-being through, for example, our procurement decisions, communication, commitments and strong interaction.
We are committed within our own value chain to, among other things, the Amfori BSCI Code of Conduct, and in addition to this, stakeholder-related responsibility is managed through our own ethical principles and responsible procurement criteria.
We have by no means forgotten our own personnel; rather, we invest heavily in job satisfaction, well-being and health, and we monitor their development systematically. All our employees are covered by comprehensive occupational health care as well as leisure time and commuting insurance. We invest in developing employees’ competence by offering training related to both managing one’s own work and, for example, products.
With us, both management and all other personnel are committed to the joint development of work and well-being, and this is strongly reflected in both our values and our ethical principles.
