Emmanuel Tessandier built Château Lescalle in 1875, having already planted vines across the estate earlier on. The vines were uprooted in 1954, and new plantings began in 1983. Château Lescalle’s 26-hectare vineyard is made up of two main plots: one near the village of Les Paruades close to Château Maucamps, and the other in the village of Lescalle. Winemaking follows traditional methods: full destemming of the grapes, fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 28–30°C, pumping-over of the must, and an extended maceration period. Since 1987, Château Lescalle has earned more than ten medals at the Concours Général Agricole in Paris and continues to receive regular recognition from respected wine critics and trade publications.
