Federalist Vineyards

In 2012, Terlato Wines launched The Federalist wine series, named after the American Federalist group that fought for the ratification of the U.S. Constitution in the late 18th century. The labels were originally adorned with images of former presidents. The current sensitive political climate changed the market, and the label now features the U.S. eagle as its emblem, while the entire series was updated into modern, fruit-forward wines. Their message is clear: these are American wines from California. Grape sourcing and winemaking are concentrated in the Lodi region, where the wines are fruit-rich with softer tannins. The wines are approachable and pleasant on their own but pair excellently with food. New winemaker Corey Garner emphasizes the agility offered by the company’s family ownership. We can make wines with the same individuality and care as wines ten times more expensive, while keeping the price reasonable. We source grapes from excellent small family farms and lesser-known or emerging wine regions.
