Weingut Sander

Weingut Sander is a family business founded in 1925 in Rheinhessen, Germany, which has followed biodynamic and organic principles since the beginning. Sander relies on nature’s own pest controllers – animals and insects – and allows plants to grow among the vines. Animals, insects, and plants fertilize the soil naturally and diversely. The ladybug is immortalized in the Sander logo. Sander’s vineyards are located entirely on loess soil in Mettenheim, Rheinhessen, which is naturally porous and well-draining. Rheinhessen is the largest of Germany’s 13 wine regions, located west of the Rhine. At Sander, operations are guided by the biodynamic calendar, drawing on human experience shaped by solar and lunar cycles, constellations, and planetary movements. They are not interested in dogmatism or fanaticism but know that living soil is the only guarantee for producing authentic terroir wines.
