Norex Responsibility Meter: Wein- und Sektgut Barth
The responsibility meter is an indicative description of the producer's level of responsibility and is based on Norex's own responsibility survey. Read more on our information pages.
Description
This exquisite wine, made from biodynamically grown Riesling grapes, reminds us why Rheingau wines were once the most expensive in the world. They’re still not cheap at this level of quality, but their value for money is exemplary. Hallgarten Schönhell is located high on a slope with clay-sandy soil, which forces the vines to struggle for water and nutrients. The result is small-berried and aromatic grape clusters. Harvesting is done by hand, and fermentation takes place with natural yeasts in a stainless steel tank, where cooling halts the fermentation and leaves 106 g/l of residual sugar in the wine.
