Description

This wine comes from the Veneto region in northeastern Italy. Amarones are made from dried grapes. In this so-called appassimento method, harvested grape bunches are allowed to dry in a cool environment for a few months before the wine is made. During drying, a third or even half of the weight of the grapes evaporates and their sugar content increases, the acidity decreases and the taste and aroma are concentrated. The method produces extremely full-bodied, wines with higher alcohol content and some residual sugar. Amarones are made from fully dried grapes.
